XJS rear fog lamps bulb LED replacement

I'm finishing refurbishing my rear fog lights('rechroming' and case repair) and got to a stage where I powered them up on the bench last night, they look great but within 2 minutes they are way too hot to touch! :O
The red lense is scorching hot, no wonder the right one melted in the past.

It cant stay like this, especially since it eating 1.7A per bulb so I'm thinking LED. Anyone tried it there? Any problems with bulb failures on the dash? Which one you've picked? There is so many types.

How often do you use your rear fogs. I actually fitted the rear window stop lamp as a fog and got the jaguar blanking plates for were they used be in the bumper. Much cleaner than those awful originals.

Probably two, three times a year(when I'll finally finish restoring it) but that's not the point They don't look bad in the bodykit to be honest and since I refurbished them, I may as well do it right so they don't end up like this one:

    and stay like this one:

It seems no one tried LEDs in the rear fog lights so ordered three different types last night, first just arrived

...so will give it a go and report later. Fingers crossed, should be ok.

Just to confirm, I've used 500 lumen bulbs that came first and they are not as bright as original tungsten bulbs, if anyone would like to give it a try then best to purchase 700 or 800 lumen bulbs, I think the 500 lumen one is approx 25% darker.

They use less power, both as can be seen on the pic less than half an amper, instead of 3.5A and of course barely get warm. Really happy with how they turned out, fingers crossed will have a working xjs to put them on later this year
I'll test them on the car when I finish tidying up the boot floor and will report if they trigger bulb out warning light.
