    Noisy window

My drivers window makes a horrible noise when it starts to drop, once on the move it goes quiet. Sounds like it might be the runners/guides are dry. Anybody else experienced this?
Do you think WD40 would be a suitable lube? Any other suggestions most welcome.

Don't use WD40, it will attract dust and dirt and makes things worse.
Instead use PTFE spray which is a "dry" lube that doesn't attract dust and dirt.
Plenty of brands out there, check your local auto parts store or Fleabay.

Silicone spray is what you want to use.

Hi, if that doesn't work I suggest that you get a new motor assembly ready, I found my cable had gone rusty in one spot and snapped soon after, at least it was easy to replace. Phil

Thanks for the suggestions, jogged my memory as I used silicon spray on sunroof slides many years {and cars!} ago. Applied a good dose of this to the guides and now all is quiet again.

Don't use WD40 on your window, it doesn't work. After replacing my XF's window motor with Jaguar, my window also made a terrible noise going up and down.

To resolve this, buy a can of silicone spray, properly douse the window with this stuff. Turn the window down and up a few times, douse it again, turn the window up and down a few times and wipe the window off. Leave it for a day or so and the noise goes away permanently.

This is pretty much what I did, good spray, worked the window up and down a few times and the noise went away. Easy fix, well pleased.
