Should be OK then.
I would listen to Mr Squirrel - he seems to have experience of this.

Thank you very much, again! Certainly seems the way forward - I used a blanking plate, then removed it because there was no difference either way - someone on here mentioned that this was something to do with the automatic gearbox.
Confusing thing is that there are no fault codes. It has been on three different diagnostic machines!
The last specialist I took it to said that they were all like this and I should have bought a petrol. And this from a guy who allegedly has 30 years Jaguar experience!!! It makes you wonder...

I know where you're coming from - but I love the bottom end torque from the diesels!
And my previous car was a 2.7 S Type auto - that was the smoothest and quietist engine I have ever come across

Just be carefull that the fuel filter that is fitted is a genuine "Delphi", Mann or Jaguar one. There are some filters out there which are cheap and nasty and have an air gap above the filter medium. The Derv engine common rail system really doesn't like this air gap...

ive always had the best results with Mann filters, just seem a bit more solid then the rest.
I just saw an Audi driver using his indicators correctly on the motorway. Twice. Should I report the vehicle as stolen?

many moons ago I cut a cheap nasty one open, there was almost a third less filter medium in it and a gap between the top of the filter medium and the outlets. I probably still have the photographs somewhere. The one I took the cheap and nasty filter off was a pig to start and kept throwing common rail low pressure codes and going into limp mode. This must have been in 2012?
