As you say though, there is good and bad wherever you look and I prefer like minded enthusiasts no matter which club they may belong to.

I know one of our long standing forum members, a real enthusiast for the marque and with a lovely X type that is top drawer, loved n cared for.

He joined one of the two clubs you mention out of curiosity, he'd been to several of my meet events and had a good experience of meeting like minded people

His experience wasn't overly pleasant, talk of the ole boys network, snobbery to quite some degree and almost to the point of being snubbed, and he's one of the nicest gentlemen you could ever wish to meet. He didn't remain a member for long.
My thoughts are though, if they could overcome this somehow, be more friendly, welcoming and inclusive that it could be a great thing

Only my limited experiences I have to say, it seems quite a few others agree but then also many with the opposing views I guess

It seems like the forums / clubs are like oil and water, never the two shall mix for some reason?

    Jim

It is the reason I no longer attend the monthly meets. Due to the small numbers they tend to be very insular and cliquey and it can be rather intimidating to newer members.
    Jim.
    2009 XK 5.0L PortfolioPast:-87'XJS 3.6L, 93'XJ40 3.2L gold, 95'XJ6 4.0L sport, 00'XJ8 3.2L sport, 2005 XK8 4.2L coupe in that order and enjoyed all of 'em.

I do not offer advice, I only say what I would do with the set of circumstances presented. Your choice always.

    Well put....

I think this, perhaps combined with other aspects meant it was never going to work for him

If the link works - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/uv?hl=...kqAOgQpx8IeDAN

You could miss it in a blink unless you knew it was there. It's a small business premises with 6 directors still active.

Their next ( Liaison meeting ) is at Gaydon on the 27th of this month , I suspect I wouldn't meet the dress code in Jeans , T-shirt and Chelsea boots !
    2009 X358 XJ LWB 2.7 Tdvi , Liquid Silver , 100k + miles
Bumper reflectors drilled and fitted with 3W side marker lights.
Fog light H11 lamps replaced with Cree LED's / running as DRL's.
