Surround Camera anyone?

I have noticed recently on ebay a number ofAll New XF front camera control modules, which got me thinking.
I already have the rear camera fitted, so how much of a job is this likely to be?
Does this unit also control the wing mirror mounted cameras?

So, what would be needed?

The camera module,
front camera,
2x mirror cameras.
Probably the harnesses, unless already fitted.
A new front grill with camera mount?
2x new wing mirror shells...which could need painting?

Then I assume access to software to activate the cameras and module, SDD maybe?

What about the actual software program that runs the cameras...is this hard coded within the camera control modules or just a disabled option within ICTP?

"Seems" do-able, but could be costly.

Just as an additional question, are any schematics available for the new XF, wiring etc...

(Probably not going to do it...but it might be a good paper exercise)

Hmmm just looking at this module on ebay it might not be what I originally thought, looks like it might be part of the lane departure system using the cameras that are mounted at the top of the windscreen.
but, is it still possible to retrofit the surround cameras?

I would imagine they would wire directly to the display, add some programming and you are there.

Front camera should not be to tricky to mount but I think the wing mirror mounted ones only came with the power fold and dimming variety on 2017 model year (latter half of 2016) build date onwards.

You should be able to make your own looms, connectors are nothing special (digikey or similar).

Programming on the other hand is a whole different issue!

With dash cams becoming popular I wonder if one can be fitted into the x260 system or using the forward speed limit camera and perhaps be made to record to a file or the SIM card? Currently don’t have a SIM card fitted but would invest in one if it’s possible.
Don’t want an aftermarket camera with the resulting screen mount and miles of cable.

I shall ask my dealer their advice when I’m next in there but would guess it would be expensive

Dealer would almost likely say that it can’t be retrofitted. Not possible to use the cameras for recording purposes with the current system.

It wont be possible to use the stereo camera system for dashcam purposes.

The type used are very different and lower resolution than is needed for recording purposes.

It seems I am on to a loser with that idea. Too much to expect the facility to be easily fitted....
