    Mot

    Hi All
Just about to collect my first Jag, an XF sportbrake 2.2 2013 with 22,000 Miles. Itís a used approved Jaguar from a UK main dealer.
My concern is it only has 6 months MOT left. Should I insist on 12 months or is it fairly normal for a big Jag dealer to sell a used approved with a short MOT ?
    Thanks
    Simon

Agree with Payno, especially as it’s approved. Welcome to the forum also.

    Thanks
On a separate note are the approved service intervals set by mileage or time. Iíve been told that the car is due another service at 38,000 miles(16,000 from now) OR in August, which is only 6 months away! Surely that canít be right?

    Welcome to the forum.

I’d take all what you know to the dealer and use that as ammunition to get all that included or money off the deal. If it were me I’d want to get an MOT and a free service as part of the deal.

I think it’s whichever is soonest so if you do the 16000 miles before August you have it serviced then if not then it gets done in August.

    Just googled and found this

An MOT can be carried out up to one calendar month prior to the expiry date of your existing MOT certificate, whilst still preserving the anniversary of the expiry date. If you have your test carried out a month before the due date, your MOT is effectively valid for 13 months.

So I canít insist on 12 months MOT 😩

Am pushing on the service though...

If it’s an approved used you are covered with this for MOT

All Approved Used vehicles are provided with an MOT Test Warranty. When your vehicle is required to take its first or next MOT Test, your vehicle will be covered for the cost of repair, replacement and/or adjustment to covered components up to the value of £750, should the vehicle fail the MOT test (£50 excess payable).
Further information on the MOT Test Warranty for Approved Used vehicles over 1 year old can be found within the Jaguar Approved Warranty Booklet.
Information on the MOT Test Warranty for Approved Used vehicles under 1 year old, with a minimum 24 months balance of Jaguar New Car Warranty can be found within the Jaguar Approved MOT Test Warranty Handbook.

Same Ian. I insisted on that, a service AND 12 months warranty when I bought mine. And then once he had agreed to all that, I asked for a discount.

Sure you can. It just means that the MOT year will start from the date of the new MOT. The original anniversary just becomes irrelevant.
