If you got a setup a PC or laptop here's some timesavers:

First get rid of all the junk- ad- and bloat-ware on a new PC: The PC Decrapifier Wipes Unwanted Junk | The PC Decrapifier

Install dozens of (free) programs all-in-one: https://ninite.com/
Just tick the boxes of the stuff you want, download the installer Ninite makes for you and it will install everything unattended in one go.

If I help someone out setting up their PC I do this standard Ninite setup:

Browser of choice (for me Firefox)
VLC - K ite codecs: Takes care of all video formats
    Java - .NET - Silverlight - Air - Shockwave ( Essentials)
    Irfanview (Best imageviewer imo)
Gimp (If you want a Photoshop alternative)
LibreOffice ( Set Load/Save options to Micosoft formats, see manual, and it's a complete Office clone)
Foxit Reader ( Better than Adobe Reader, no annoying popups)
    Avast antivirus
    Malwarebytes
    7-zip
    ImgBurn

Plus a lot more if you want.

You might clarify that you're not talking about PCs in general, only those unfortunate enough to be running Windoze.

Of course, the quickest way to decrapify a PC is to install Linux.

Didn't realize that the happy few would read this thread.
They allready have "everything" for free. But still, sudo apt-get install JLR SDD doesn't work..

No, there are still some unenlightened program suppliers around!
