I am now finding that my new toy is attached to my hand. It is becoming easier to use and I can do much more with it than the computer.

No waiting for minutes for the thing to power up and virus check, does all of my emails, video yaking with family, watching TV away from the wife, surfing the outer net and even posting on this forum.

Bye Bye computer, you have had your day.

Hmmmmm, where do you insert the blank dvd to burn the family vacation movie, or the children's birthday party for the grandparents to see.?

How do you run jtis or jepc or any of the other manufacturers TIS.?

How do you connect a bluetooth obd tool to it.?

How can you install apps from anywhere else other then the apple store? (without jailbreak and voiding your warranty)

How do you view flash in websites and play flash based games?

How do you multitask with multiple windows?

How do you burn music cd's?

How do you store your 800gb plus movie and music Collection?

How do you store your 4-5 tb HD movie collection?

How do you securely store your passwords?

How do you easily print something?

How do you run Microsoft office?

How do you use photoshop to edit your photos?

How do you replace the battery ?

How do you increase the storage capacity?

How do you plug in your Flash drive?

Pardon? Oh you can't do any of that?

Isn't the max file size for ipads 4gb too?

My pc can, my laptop can and my net book can.

A tablet / phablet / smart phone android or apple has its uses but can in no way replace a pc.

I myself use my Android Samsung galaxy note 2 or my Asus nexus for surfing and email skype etc... But couldn't be without my pc's for the serious stuff.

Who cares about all of that garbage.

This technical world we live in that gets more complicated each day is self defeating.

Why waste all that money when you can be sitting on the deck in your garden watching the sparrow hawks hunt the pigeons or stroll along the golden mile taking in the sun.

You can't do that on a lap top but I can take my iPad with me, watch Sky Go or other channels, try to avoid my daughter calling on Facetime and everything else I need to do.

Don't play games, don't need to multitask (used a proper computer in my days a Sun), don't need to print and certainly do not need to store 800 Gb + of music and films....

I have a netbook, roughly the same size as an iPad so is just as portable, only much more versatile running Windows 7 and Linux mint (duel boot)

Is your ipad 3g or just Wifi?

My netbook is 3g so no need to look for Wifi hotspot.

As for wanting to store lots of gb of movies, most are HD home video of important events I want to cherish and remember in my senile years and show to my childeren the things they are too young to remember.

Luckily I don't give a damn about having the biggest, smallest, most expensive, fastest latest must have computer or gadget.

I just buy what suits my needs. I still use my Nokia banana phone circa 1995.

As for must haves, been there, done that, read the book, bought the T shirt. I realise now that 99% of what people have is not necessary.

Just enough to fill my requirements, a roof over my head and food on the table. That's how to lead a contented life. Not always wanting more, better, faster or bigger.

Oh yes........and being a Yorkshireman to boot.

I think your misunderstanding, I'm not trying to say I have better stuff, or the latest stuff, or mine is better than yours, I don't have anything near as sophisticated as an iPad, (I bought both my Android devices and my laptop and pc used) (I did treat myself to the netbook new) I'm trying to point out an iPad or any tablet can not replace a pc as it can't do the things a pc can. But a pc can do everything an iPad can and a lot more.

It's a fact a pc is more versatile, and for one with the same screen size as an iPad they are also cheaper but with upgradable memory, processor and storage.

As I have said, I use tablets for most of my browsing, so have nothing against tablets but having a pc that can run jtis and other manufacturers TIS has saved me hundreds if not thousands of pounds on a second hand £60 pc. (a true yourkshireman should apreacieate that)

Again, I find the ability to burn home movies and other things to dvd to send to grandparents invaluable as they are in their 90's and placing a disk in the player is about their technical limit.

I have a few tb drives connected to the pc that all devices can access and that's where I store my multi media. (years and years of digital photos, home movies, music, films, TV shows etc...)

I got a cheap laptop (£80 on fleabay) to run jtis and vauxhall tis on as I was tired of running in to the house to see the next step in a repair process. It's more than paid for itself.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is if you use a pc for more than casual browsing and email you can't replace it with a tablet.
