Only just noticed on my 2012 that the glove box just drops undamped when opened - are they all like that or has something broken? Think it rattles a bit too.. Hurrumph.

I think we could do with having a stickies sub forum as now the car has ceased production, more and more people will be trying to repair the car themselves. Also stops the same questions cropping up too.

... stickies sub forum ...
Would be good, especially if it could be factual, lightweight, and easy to use. The subjective stuff ideally needs weeding out to make it really good.

All fixed so thanks again for the link. Only tweak left to do is the push button seems to stick out a bit too much, will tweak it later.

Sticky sounds a good idea. I didn't read the lock thread as it wasn't the topic I thought I'd need. Thread creep is useful if you read everything though! :)

Glad you are sorted. I tend to dump potentially useful, good info into text files, etc. and then have one place to search first.

Thanks 8bit, glad you did :) I did indeed use the Jaguar TSB method. I bought some split pins from Halfords - a whole ÂŁ1.36 or something for quite a few. Fiddliest bit of the process (I found) was refitting the glove box. It's best to insert the top section first, do up the two torx screws (right side first, then left), then the side one, then bottom two last. All lines back up perfectly that way.

Finally got mine fixed at the weekend. Glove box door has got its grace back at the cost of some pace :) ETA - thanks for the help, folks.

One other problem cropped up at the time, the lock barrel for the glovebox simply fell out while I was removing the glovebox to do the fix. Is this supposed to be loose like that, or is it meant to be stuck in somehow?
