I have recently bought a 2000 model S type 4.0 V8 with 43K on the clock. It's a fabulous car but as of yet I've not done many miles in it. I noticed some oil on the garage floor and when I investigated it appears to be coming through the engine breather into the air filter and dripping down onto the left suspension and wheel. Rather disappointing. Has anyone got any advise before I take it further?
I'm hoping I might have cured it. After talking to a Jaguar mechanic he suggested the vent on the other side might be blocked. I got into it and poked it with a wire and sure enough it was blocked. A bit more of a push cleared the hole so I'm going to run it and see if that has cured the problem. I'm away for the next few days but I'll post a result at the weekend. Here's hoping
To finish the saga; yes, the poking out with the wire cured the problem. Where once there was a pool of oil, now there's none! Quite a relief as you might guess, and very satisfying to have sorted.

You're right. In my experience the joy of poking things normally creates more problems than it solves
