Creaking & paint damage

Hello- I'm new & already have 2 problems!

1. Creaking from front suspension/brake pads?

Bought a lovely s/hand 02 S-type from a main dealer 6 weeks ago, since then a creaking sound has developed coming from what sounds like the front offside suspension (but only after a long run or when its hot weather eg 27 degrees+) - recently had a "free health check"with the dealer and surprise surprise I need new brake pads all round! (quote £730 incl labour)

2 questions: (a) does anyone reckon this actually sounds like worn brake pads ? (the dealer says the shocks are fine) (b) surely £700+ is a bit steep? (Kwik Fit are quoting £110+)- any advice greatly appreciated

2. Paint damage
I've already had some lo-life keying the boot lid (7 x 5" long "scribble" scratches - to the bare metal)- it really is a mess- any idea how much I'm likely to have to part with to get the thing resprayed/any good bodyshops in S London?

Rgds

Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. :)

1. I think that this problem stems from worn or damaged bushes. However I thought it was only on the early cars, yours seems a little too new for this problem.

£730 for brake pads seems somewhat exhorbitant !! Give the guys at www.lespaulsmotors.co.uk a ring, they are hightly rated Jag specialists and are VAT registered so any work they do will not invalidate any Jaguar warranty.

2. Ditto the above. I'm not sure of any body shops in s.london, but I'd estimate £500 - £600 for a boot lid.

Good luck with the car, and please let us know how you get on.

** edited, I put in the wrong www for les pauls. sorry.
