Hi All
My 2005 Sovereign has a button for Auto Speed Limiter with a built in LED. When I press the button nothing happens and the light doesn't illuminate. I wonder if the car has this feature or would they fit the switch to fill up a hole? I think that later models have a Valet button in that location.
Any ideas or theories welcome.

I think if the button is there the function should work.
I know old Ford's had blanking plates over non functioning switches.
As Steve says, if its there, it should work

Have you read up on it, know how it works and tested it?
Might sound like silly questions, but...

Cheers

I tried pressing the button and fiddling with the cruise controls but it just seems dead. If I can fathom how to pull the switch panel off I'll see what's behind it. Can't see a fuse for it and the manual mentions an ASL module but doesn't reveal where it is.
I would probably never use it but I would just like to know why it doesn't work
Thanks
Pete

Hey there PDMiller

Honestly, not being funny, but have you read the manual re how the ASL works?
What I mean is, are you just pushing the button or have you read and know how it works?

Cheers

That panel come off after you get the head unit out,
rear vent>j agate Trim>center console>head unit.

There are a couple of different panels with differing buttons, mine had Valet, perhaps it has been replaced, say heated seat switch went done?

Alternatively manual ot perhaps ask a dealer for build sheet to confirm spec.

Check fuse F2 5A and F27 10A in the passenger junction fuse box. They supply the speed control sensor and speed control module.
It may also be worth checking for any codes related to the speed control.

Afternoon all
Checked the fuses today and all ok. Not much info in the manual but as far as I can see I'm doing what I'm supposed to but it doesn't want to play ball. Interestingly I've got the Vehicle Information Sheet from Jaguar and it states every little thing that the car was built with, like seat stitching and auto dim mirrors but nowhere does it mention ASL?
The manual shows a vague location for the ASL module but doesn't tell how to get at it. I suspect it was the first thing to be put in then everything else was piled on top of it.
Maybe the dealer that I bought it from had a sense of humour and put the switch there to confuse me because I wouldn't pay his asking price. :sneaky:.
Thanks for the replies and if I get it to work I'll report back.

Thanks for that Pete and seasons greetings from the Northern Hemisphere.
My car is a late 2005 but seems to be 2006 spec, the handbook doesn't mention the ASL so this is the first time I've seen the actual instructions. I'll try it again if I'm still allowed out.
Cheers

I am sure it is there but not working.
Mine failed shortly after I had the car, a 2 yr old from a jag dealer. They had a look at it and to sort would have required more time and another booking in. I (regrettably) never followed it up.
It seems complicated and linked to other electronic systems.

My Wife's P38 Range Rover has a thing that bleeps at a pre set speed and I think it has been used twice in 15 years of ownership to see if it works. I probably wouldn't use the ASL on the Jag either so not worth spending time and money to fix it.
Thanks for the replies.

Until I read this I didn't even know mine has this button. (It's on the passenger side of the hazard button so that's my only excuse)

Does it actually prevent the car accelerating past the set speed? If so I would consider that a bit of a safety issue. And yes, I'm fully aware large trucks have limiters that do this.
