    2006 audio head unit upgrade?

Hi All, have just bought a 2006 XK with the standard audio head unit which will drive me crazy!
Does anyone know whether a later version will fit (Bluetooth, aux input, DAB etc.), and if so would it be from an XK or are other models compatible?
Apologies if this has been asked before, but being all excited about the new addition to the family alongside my 4.2 S Type, brain has gone all furry!!!
    Thanks for any advice etc.

It is possible to retrofit the Premium sound from a 2009MY into an earlier model.

This would give the possibility to add the Portable Audio Interface (iPod & USB, with an extra dongle also Bluetooth Streaming)
It would also enable you to retrofit DAB/DAB+, same like I have in my 2009MY XKR.

Actually, it's even possible to retrofit the TV out of the XF too... i'm working on this at the moment.

And other stuff like enabling voice controls, newer software in the phone module, and so on...

    To update a 2006 base audio XK to the "fully loaded" 2009 specification you will need;

    Change head unit
Change touchscreen (or a software update is sometimes possible)
Reprogram software in the media gateway
Add the subwoofer and amplifier, plus the cooling fan and wiring to power the cooling fan
Add the surround speaker, incl the missing wiring, change the door speakers
Add the Portiable Audio module, the interface panel, and some missing wiring
Add the DAB module, amplifier and antenna, again some missing wiring
Update the software in the phone module
Lot's of programming needed with an unlocked SDD diagnostic tool!

TV module and antennas optional LOL

With all of this updated it is also possible to add a reverse camera directly to the screen, as I have in mine.

As you can imagine, it's not going to be cheap to do this, and there is a lot of time involved, and it is not all plug & play, it must be programmed...

You don't need an audio upgrade in an XK - just upgrade the exhaust
