Just tried this on my estate. 3/4" washers are way too big, and flop around all over the place. 3/8" is probably the way to go. I'll pick up some new washers and try again, since I couldn't get the end off one of the struts either (without chewing up the shaft!)

3/4 are fine - just get the right type! These https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/4TRA...FVMy0wodiEUI2g

    Maybe you got these! https://www.bes.co.uk/rubber-washer-...yABEgLAKfD_BwE

I found the end fixing came off after the thread 'cracked' - I used some pliers on the end fixing not the shaft. Good luck!

1/2" just pushes on - lovely tight fit to keep the springs in place when the tailgate is up.

New struts, springs and washers fitted and indeed, the tailgate lifts much easier. Except that I have to press the tailgate first slightly in order to let the electric lock open it. It seems the extra springs holds the gate to the latch which cannot retract at that position. A bit annoying really.

Seeing Bobs video, it reminded me I have never actually used the tailgate button on the remote. It does not do anything on mine (ie. not opening the rear). Can it be learned to open the tailgate?

Hi ..if the right type spring and strut is used then all should be well ....and open on the press of the button on your key fob.

The fob button can be programmed in with a mongoose to open the tailgate or just the glass, I believe!!
