Having just done the upgrade, I can highly recommend it especially if you are a power freak like me.

My '07 XKR had a number of power upgrades so wasn't far off the performance of the 5 litre but the later cars just seem to do it so effortlessly and without the feeling that you are on the edge or something is about to blow.

Now that I have fitted an X-pipe and applied the XKR-S tune to my '10 it is even more fun to drive and the power is just crazy!

Hmm, maybe I'll have to test drive a couple then. How is the handling compared to the 4.2, any difference? I did a photoshoot with a chap in a Cayman R the other night and it got me thinking that I'd maybe like something a bit sharper again...

Do not buy another car before trying out a 5 litre XKR. They are, as the Americans say. A. MAY. ZING!
Pop down and take mine out for a blast, its not far!

I do not offer advice, I only say what I would do with the set of circumstances presented. Your choice always.

I haven't had it out on a track yet but the suspension is definitely harder. You do have the option of just using it in non dynamic mode though which soften things up a little.

The e-diff is a welcome addition. It is still very quick to spin the wheels and now both spin rather than just one but now I have had it for a bit it is quite predictable and easy to handle. You do have to treat it with respect though, especially in the wet.
