Hi all

I decided to buy myself a new toy recently - an iCarsoft LR II, it is supposed to be compatible with all years/version of S Types (and others)...... but......

Does anybody have experience of using this to communicate with a 2002 S Type ECU, or any 2002 Jaguar, I can get it to communicate with all other modules but not the ECU, which nearly makes it useless.

???

That is some help, what I am wondering about is whether my ecu has a fault, everything works ok but I should be able to connect to it.

The Chinese makers have been quite helpful - still waiting for a solution though, the people I bought it from (Diagnostic World) have been bl**dy useless.

Update time.

It seems that the iCarsoft LR-II is not then same as the iCarsoft LR V2.0, a bit confusing I am sure you will agree.

Apparently the iCarsoft LR-II had some communications problems that the iCarsoft LR V2.0 has been designed to fix, after watching the YT video I thought that the iCarsoft LR-II was the latest one being offered, an easy mistake to make but one that the iCarsoft should have avoided by being more intelligent with their naming schedule - as far as I can make out the new version is effectively the iCarsoft LR-II V2.0.

Anyway after a lot of emails with the makers in China (who were very helpful), they finally suggested that I return the LR-II for a replacement LR V2.0 (..... I think).

If you've got a recently bought iCarsoft LR-II it might be worth checking to see if you can't get the updated version - firmware update is not available AFAIK and if it was it wouldn't fix the communications problems on some cars (2002 S Type in my case) as this seems to be a hardware issue as well.

I'll let you know what happens.

Well... it arrived earlier today.

Note: If you do order it from Diagnostic World it’ll be 2-3 working days delivery, not 1-2 working days (as they say), as they send them out via Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For.

But it arrived in one piece. Hooked up to the car, selected Jaguar, X-Type and model year and ‘Diagnostics’ and off it went reading the various modules. 13 on my car, and that includes Parking Module... well it would if it was fitted.

Nothing of any concern, a couple of historic codes which I cleared. Good to see no codes for ECU, ABS, etc. Will re-check in a couple of days to see if any of the ‘historic’ codes return.

can see this being a useful bit of kit.
