Jaguar E Type Series 2 - Pressure sender failures.

having just completed another European trip following the Mille Miglia, 2700 miles over 14 days the only issue again was another pressure sender.
yes its hot engine driving, but starts with slightly erratic engine oil pressure, mostly lower than normal and varying between about 10 and 40 PSI with no change in revs, plenty of oil, was only serviced before we came out. This is now the 3rd unit (one each for the last 3 years) and they are lasting about 12 months in each case. So once again being prepared I had a spare, and swapped the errant one the following morning with the new one, the new one has been fine since for the last 700 miles. Lets see if this one lasts a bit longer. At £ 55 each that's an expensive "tax" each year because of poor quality parts,

    Anyone else had this problem?

Have you thought about fitting a Mechanical gauge to get the true pressure ?
