If someone can check its the same drive shaft on all S Types?

There are many on eBay if you can wait a week.

There are 3 or 4 different HALFSHAFTS for the S Type, usually the label with the part no is still on them. I was quoted £627.00 complete from Jaguar 6 years ago, I managed to get a S/H one for £110.00.

It sounds to me like your Garage is taking the easy option (to them) for changing the Reluctor Ring, by replacing the whole Half Shaft complete with Ring, instead of removing the Ring only, perhaps a second opinion of the problem would be prudent. Take a look at Piria33's posts on the subject...

That is bullshit you you can get the ring as a separate part. They have not done their research here Mark.

There are two different sizes and they are available here.

Just heard from Mark he going back to work so he probably will not have time to post the answer.

After our discussion on the abs fault he went to a different workshop and they sorted out the fault it was the reluctor ring in the end. This garage got one from the sources that we had shown, fitted it and problem cured all for the princely sum of 125 pounds. He did not need a new halfShaft or a new sensor.

We managed to save him at least 575 pounds.

And he will never be going back to that workshop who tried to make him drop his trousers and bend over to be screwed.

Keep up the good work everybody
