    Why not?

Mine had 3 blown bulbs. I replaced them all with white LEDs.

You said the radio and "trip" (message display) work on the dimmer, or did I misread your post?

Did any of the panel lamps work since you had the car?

    What don't work exactly?

Here's a not so good video but it shows the 2 connectors and how to open the panel cover, and the 10 bulbs.

It could be a cocked or tarnished connector.

If it's a burnt track you should see it.

The hardest part is removing the instrument panel surround.

Ah, OK. It could be a fuse or two, I'm not sure.

We have a list of Fuses and their functions in a thread in our S Type Stickies subforum along with a shipload of other good info.

The fuses are listed in the Owner's Handbook, you may find one for your year if you don't have one, in the Stickies too.

Here's the link to our Stickies:
    https://www.jaguarforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104

Have a look around them to know what is there and download what you want.

And here's the direct link to the Fuse Locations thread there to save you time:

    .
Note that the S Type interior and systems were radically changed in 2002. The new cars were called X202 and are referred to as "2002.5+" (2nd half of 2002 year) and sometimes as "Model Year 2003". All to cause confusion.

We are in conflict here over whether this change deserved to be called the "First Facelift", but that's what it is. The second facelift in 2004 is X204 and there was another in 2006, X206.

There is a thread on VIN ranges in the Stickies too, check those out and see if your VIN is before or after the 2002.5 facelift.

You can also download the Workshop Manual and Electrical Guides etcetera from www.jagrepair.com

Be aware that many of these manuals and guides are model year specific.

Let us know how you get on.

Many thanks for that I will get stuck in,
I another query I have noticed that my cruise control was going on and off and also my brake lights were on most of the time so I took a look at the switches at the brake pedal took out the cruise control one to adjust it to the pedal and noticed that the brake pedal move up a little when I put the switch back in the plunger push the pedal down ever so slowly causing cruse to go off and the brake lights to come on so I looked at adjusting the switches but cannot find any way of doing so, So I removed the cruse switch that solved the brake light issue but now no cruise control anybody heard of this before and can these switches be adjusted.

I thought the switch holder should adjust forward/backward movement?

Someone who has done it should be along to help soon.
