I can clarify a little, based on a discussion I've just had with a friend who knows (and who will remain un-named) - Porsche were originally contracted to do the cylinder head design for the Duratec, and it was carried forward to AJV8. it's not an engine originally destined for any Porsche model, though - just done under Porsche consultancy

We wouldn't know him/her, even if you did name them. 😁

Thanks for the information, very interesting.

    Weirdly I am looking atm

    My choices were

2012 Artisan (only 80 on UK roads) £26k
    2015 XK Dynamix R £46k

Now both were facelifts and whilst the Dynamic was in the last 50 of production I'm still leaning towards the Artisan.

I'm buying the car for me and to keep, by way of explanation I had one of the first 50 X100's off the production line in 96, it was written off by fire in June this year, I'd had it for over 13yrs.

Insurance tried to offer me £2000 stating that there were X & W plates available on autotrader for that price with an MOT, I asked for like-for-like so a P plate antigua blue car. The loss assessor came back an hour later amazed that the cheapest he could find was £6k

I settled on £5.5, not bad for a car I paid £13k for 13yrs earlier? So my actual cost of ownership inc fuel/servicing/mot's came out at well under £1k per annum and in that period I did over 100k miles (the majority for business.

Using this as an example for the simple reason, if you get something like an artisan stock is limited and, should the worse happen, you'll not find insurance quibbling when they have to replace with another artisan.

That said I do like the XK Design R as the body kit looks rather awesome (still a little boy in all of us!), so am still undecided

For me there's less than £100 difference in insurance (£350-£450pa) road tax is the same at the max for the UK, and I have 2 other cars to drive, so mileage will be less than 8k per year. But I would rather buy a car that's done 8k miles per annum, anything less and it's really not been used!

    My tuppence worth

    I'm also looking.

A 5ltr Portfolio, or Artisan. But, the Artisan doesn't come in blue.

    True but the leather does!!

TBH ivory leather turns my stomach, have seen some gorgeous cars, as soon as the interior pics show white/ivory I switch off.

IM(not so H)O it makes it look like a proper old mans car...and I'm 53!

Seen a few 60/11 plate XK's with charcoal interior and black paint work they looked stunning but I really don't like lighter colours and don't get me started on the two tone stuff. Maybe its an age thing
