Okay.....BE is installed already and I have front and rear sensors, neither of which work. The BE unit stated that it is front and rear sensors and has the same three terminals for the wiring looms.

The AE and BE units both have three sockets, if you open up the BE and AE units you will find the AE is missing a number of components. I loaded some photos about 3 years ago showing the difference.

I see thanks. The AE unit doesn't seem to work at all, so I am going to return it to the seller in any event. Given that the red roof light flashes with the original BE unit in situ, I am wondering whether the fault is linked to the sensors.

there are two sounders for the front and rear sensors, the rear is under the parcel shelf on the saloon not sure with the estate. the front sounder is behind the touch screen/ air con controller. the sounders do go faulty and give no output. looking at the error messages I suspect the BE module has had water in it. take it apart to check for the green corrosion, if your luck a scrub with alcohol and a tooth brush may clean it up , worse case is if the pcb tracks have been eaten away, which means a new module. only one on eb** is £90, do you really need front and rear sensors? as the AE type are only £35

Thanks again for this. I have in the meantime found your 2015 thread and understand why the roof light is not working with the replacement AE module, as it only is linked to the front sensors. The boot is pretty dry, but I have noted some blue corrosion on the terminals of the BE module, so will open it tomorrow and have a look inside. I would like to get front and rear working if possible.

Do you know whether Ford or Land Rover modules are compatible?

I'm guessing that this is not good?
