    Evening

So here was the car being chauffeured to Prestige Jaguar yesterday, not a sight I’m used to or want to see again if possible.

I got an unexpected call from Douglas at Prestige an hour or so ago to say they had taken a look at the car and it’s the water pump that has failed, replacement ordered and hopefully fitted Monday.

Great to know nothing too serious!

    Cheers
    Colin

Thanks, Colin, that was a post I've been interested to see.
Fingers now uncrossed, with sigh of relief - pleased it's not too horrendous.
    Best wishes

    Hi Colin,
not a pretty sight I have to agree

The good news you can console yourself with though its just the water pump, she'll be back on the road in no time.

I'm actually next door tot here in the morning at Reep detailing with a friend of mine in his BMW M5 he's looking to have detailed. She'll either be inside or in the compound at the rear though I'd guess

    Hope to catch up soon

    Jim

Pleased they have found the problem, those water pumps are a problem on the V8's.

Cheers Jim, sounds as though your friend is going all out with the M5 remap and getting it detailed. Very nice cars mind you!

Just seen this Colin hopefully with the new water pump all things will be good again, strange it let go at your mileage but I know it's no consolation but just glad it's that and at least you know she will come back better than ever.

Interim update, the car was in for 3 jobs

    1. Water pump replacement (obv didn’t know this was at fault initially)
    2. Invesigate oil sweat detected at last oil change
    3. Front suspension knock

I spoke to Douglas today, water pump is done and the suspension knock has been tracked to an anti rollbar link, which was ordered and they are hoping to fit tomorrow.

The absolute source of the oil sweat/leak still to be 100% confirmed, but sounds likely to be the timing cover. It’s a 10hr job apparently, so if it’s confirmed then I suspect it might be a re-book for a later date.

On the plus side, been getting a lot of excercise to and from work on my bike!

    Cheers

Once again tonight, I'm liking a post on so many counts.
Your wonderful "declining era" large capacity V8 is in skilled, knowledgable hands, who will (by the sounds of it) give you a load more years of stylish wafting.
Obviously wish you well on the costs, but it's nice to know that something is just "right", IMHO.
Best wishes - watching with interest..
