Upgrade air filter waste of time

Put a cone air filter on today hoping it would give a bit of grunt noise but made no difference I used to own a vectra b 2.6 v6 and I fitted a cone filter and what a difference it made not by power but the engine note sounded great thought it would do the same on the 3.0 jag how wrong was I it still sounds the same as the standard airbox

Not really a fan of Cone filters myself.

All they do is suck hot air..

    And look stoopid

    especially in a Jag
They said it couldn't be done, so i didn't do it

Have to say I'm pretty much with Henry on this, same goes for K&N filters, at least from my perspective

Just a bit of bling for the chavs with Carlos fandango wheels and go faster stripes. Agree with you and Henry.

No doubt the sound deadening mutes it? Not for me either

Just get a drop in K&N to fit the stock airbox, the performance gains will be miniscule though

Lol you lot of old men I wasn't interested in power or the looks of a cone filter it doesn't look good I completely agree it looks chavey and is not standard I bought it because it was brand new and at a bargain price of £10 I have a black jaguar s 3.0 sport that's been lowerd by previous owner and looks great with the 18" arden alloys it's not a old man's looking jag trust me it looks fantastic and is standard apart from being lowerd I just thought by fitting a cone filter may give the engine note a better sound that's all
