No real surprise there Santer, for me anyway

I've been lucky enough to live in Scotland and to travel over almost every square mile of the UK at one time or another, including Ireland although less so in the South of Ireland. There are beautiful places and sights to behold all over.

As a Scot I do though feel very lucky to have the Highlands and Islands almost in my own back yard, I've been all over the North up to John O Groats, Shetlands and Orkney Isles too as well as the Western Isles, Skye and much more, its so beautiful, quiet and generally unspoilt. I would be travelling some days, perhaps in the height of summer and think to myself...I'm getting paid to travel these roads and see this scenery lol.

As much as I always tried to appreciate it, you can sometimes take it for granted, its not until others point out the stunning views that you have a fresh appreciation.
    The massive plus point??

This is all in our own back yard, some great driving roads too!!

That said, my bucket list is now to complete the NC500 (Scotland's very own route 66) it's 500 miles of stunning scenery, lochs and glens, mountains and single track roads with only sheep for company
One day soon, that'll be ticked off my list....

Couldn’t agree more with Jim, if only the weather was a tad better, mind you living in the South West we do get some very good weather depending on the Gulf Stream.

Speaking of which one of my most memorable drives was in a Ford Mustang Convertible (hire car) where after a couple of days at Daytona followed by another two in Miami Beach we drove all the way down the Keys to Key West.

Absolutely stunning scenery with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Straights of Florida on the other side of the road.
We saw a few iguana’s on the way just by the roadside. Key West itself simply “rocks” and the tequila isn’t too bad either.
