    The sunroof is fixed.

They said the iPhone issue was my lead, but i tried 3 leads and it failed the same way with all of them. Their lead was reliable, apparently. I'll try lead no 4.

They put the fuel tank sensor glitch as a one off, and to keep and eye on it.

    Sounds like a decent outcome.

Ensure you use a genuine Apple lead - I only use an iPod in the car, and that doesn't seem to work on Poundshop leads. Can't speak for iPhone, as I only Bluetooth that.

Well I've now tried 6 leads. I am pretty sure 1 of them is an apple one, as it came with the phone.
No pound shop ones. I try and get good ones that last more than 2 months. I hate them fraying.

4 are in this image 2 are still in the car

Interestingly, they all provide power to the phone. The phone pings when I plug in any of those 6 leads.
However, In Control Apps will not stay connected with a single one of them.

Is it possible that you are getting bluetooth/ cabled connection crossover? My car has created two connections for my iPhone (both confusingly called "Chris's iPhone X"), and it appears that one relates to connecting by lead and the other to connection by bluetooth. The car will occasionally choose to switch between them (and I can not always figure out why), and when it does it pauses the music. I have to go in and select one or the other source again, and then press play.

Bottom one in centre looks as if it *might* be an Apple one.
