    Weird noise?!

After running her for a while a rhythmic tapping noise can be heard, i hunted around her for a good half hour with no success..

However after unintentionally resting my hand on the expansion tank i found it..

Not only does it sound like a heartbeat but i can feel the tapping.

I've pulled the cap off and there is no obvious signs of oil locks,.

I've tried bleeding it and no air was in the system.

    Heater works fine etc etc

Weird issue, it feels exactly like a heartbeat!!!!
They said it couldn't be done, so i didn't do it

Try putting your hand on the water pump hose to see if it feels stronger there

The throbbing feeling is only in the expansion tank all the hoses are good, no feeling into them

The throbbing also increases with engine RPM!

That still makes me think water pump I suspect you may have to wait for it to get worse before the problem becomes apparent

A mechanic's stethoscope would help you track down the noise. They are not expensive. My only caution is to be careful using one near moving parts, i.e. serpentine belt, pulleys and tensioners.

Even better is a 1960s 2-foot wooden-handled screwdriver held against your ear.

But you have to be qualified to use one.

Ok the car is not pressurising

And it smokes out the exhaust like a kettle even when hot so i'm suspecting Head Gasket.

    Fook me.

Just hitting a dead end.. tbh it looks like HG, but all the cars are producing steam so 50/50 at this point.

I'll see if i can acquire a compression tester!

It can be driven for left idling and there is absolutely no pressure in the cooling system..

You can open the lid and there isn't so much as a hiss..

But the weird thing is, she doesn't use coolant..

    Hmm.

So it may not be a disaster.
