I was going to repaint my red callipers tomorrow, so it’s handy to see that they clean up that well, I’ll now try that first. was also wondering what to do about the tatty rusting covers or hats.

So I nipped out to Halfords to get some paint and lacquer , and am now wishing I hadn’t ...... in my eagerness I kerbed one of my nice new Vulcan wheels pulling into the parking space and now have a 6” scrape on the rim with bare metal smiling through the technical grey finish.

    I can’t beleive I was so stupid.

Anyone any ideas where I can get paint to match the original colour?
Oh dear, you have my sympathy, the pain is real.

I'm guessing you may be able to get some sort of decent finish on it to take the worst of the look away, unfortunately if like me, you'll always know it's there and it'll still just jump out at you.

It seems to get worse I'm afraid as I've asked a couple of times both in the past and recently about refurbishing ONE alloy to match, I'm informed that a close enough match may not be guaranteed.
The best they came up with was to get 2 refurbished on the same side, that way they'd appear the same but any slight difference wouldn't show up against the other alloys on the other side

    .
Thanks, it will do I’m sure; even grey primer is better than the metal showing through! I’ll work on it today.

I find any shade of wheel silver is at least enough to take your eye off it.

Humbrol black gloss enamel is a good match for the Vortex.

Find a paint supplier drive over to them and ask them to mix and match your wheel colour in an aerosol

So not to tempt fate I went to another Halfords and carefully parked away from side kerbs and managed not to bugger up another wheel! Concentrating on the wrong thing I managed to whack the front splitter into the kerb in front of me lovely white scratch mark there as well now

Halfords obviously have terrible car parks as it can’t be anything to do with my recent poor parking abilities

On the upside I found some Halfords own brand wheel paint in anthracite that matches the technical grey pretty well, and also had to get some black bumper paint to fix my other mistake.

Despite the lovely weather today, don’t worry I’ll stay off the roads and away from carparks today!

The great thing about having predominantly black alloys is that black nail varnish covers a multitude of orange.

I always stock up at £1 shops around Halloween
