My dealer told me to use a 0W 20 oil. Is this correct?

0W-20 is for later cars, but I am led to believe it can be used in all 5.0 V8's.

This is XF info', but it's the same engine.

Engine Oil - Vehicles built up to March 2014 SAE 5W20 WSS-M2C925-A
Engine Oil - Vehicles built from March 2014 SAE 0W20 STJLR.51.5122

The castrol was designed with Jag and is via your Jag dealer but that doesnt mean other oils of the same spec wont do the same job.

As long as its 5W30, meeting the required ACEA of C1, and is marked Ford WSS-M2C934-B or JLR 03.5005, it'll do fine.

Not personally a fan of Castrol oils, as they absorb too much moisture, which is bad for lubrication, bad for breathers and bad for seals. But your choice

Many thanks for the advice. Looks like you are only 9 miles down the road from me too.

Given your forum name, I'm now wondering if 5 or 6 years ago if you turned up here in a big red truck, and pointed hosepipes at my garage !
