Diesel Smoke from front left bonnet

    Hi

I have just acquired an XF 2.7 Diesel and it has diesel smoke coming from the front left bonnet/wheel arch area sometimes.

Is this a fuel fired auxiliary heater, like was in the S Type?

    TIA

Hi, possible it could be a cracked flexi pipe on the catalytic converter, a know issue. Phil

That's the area for smoke from the Webasto heater all right. They moved to an electric one on the 3.0 litre but I believe the 2.7 KF kept the oil-fired heater. As suggested, get the flexi-pipe checked, just to be sure.

Thanks guys for that, I will have it looked at , though it wasn't mentioned on it's MOT yesterday, so hoping it's just the heater

If you only get it when it's cold, chances are good that it's the heater.

Can someone tell me which fuse I can pull for the heater - I'm thinking if I do that and am still getting it, it's the flexi pipe/s, if it stops, it's the heater.

    Cheers

Can't remember. Do a search or look in the handbook.

Do all 2.7's have this heater, never noticed it on mine in ten years. Phil

I did notice this morning that the smell starts with the ignition on and the engine off...I need to find that fuse and pull it.
