    2017 XE Rear Bumper Removal

I'm hoping there is someone online now that can help me regarding the removal of the rear bumper of my 2017 XE.

I've removed the screws from under the wheel arches and the two bolts from the valance underneath the car, and also disconnected the electrical plug under the right side but it still seems very fixed.

    What have I missed?

    Thanks,

    Richard.

In the absence of anymore fixings you’ll probably find the bumper just needs a firm tug from the side panels.

    You still there Jimbo?

I've just found another two screws (one either side) and removed them and now I have the sides unclipped but still it seems fixed by the inner lower corners of the rear lights. Any ideas?

    Found 'em!

Two more bolts! Almost fell off once I took them out.

    Hi RWD3M
I'm attempting to fit a towbar on my 2016 XE. You mention unclipping the bumper sides at the seams where they meet the rear panels. Is it just a case of pulling or is there more to it? I've removed three screws from under each wheel arch and the two bolts from under the rubber plugs at the corners of each rear light, plus the two under the valance. Can it now be pulled away without breaking anything? Or have I missed something? Would appreciate the benefit of your experience. Thanks

    Hi Skinny,

Blimey, now you've got me thinking.

As I recall, the sides came away with a good pull after removing the screws under the wheel arches.

I think you've got them all.

Put a bit of carpet on the floor before you do pull it clear though, it's quite ungainly when fully disconnected!

    Good luck!
