How about a mobility scooter for an avatar, you’re bound to end up with one eventually.
    Jim.
2012 XKR Black pack, Speed Pack, Aero pack, Rat pack. Past:-87'XJS 3.6L, 93'XJ40 3.2L gold, 95'XJ6 4.0L sport, 00'XJ8 3.2L sport, 2005 XK8 4.2L coupe, 2009 XK 5.0L Portfolio in that order and enjoyed all of 'em.

I do not offer advice, I only say what I would do with the set of circumstances presented. Your choice always.

... on the "eventually" front, I could let you have a little picture of a dirty X351 ...

I think perhaps a "wishful thinking" avatar might be nice?

    An 1996 XJS V12 perhaps?... or a 420G?...

My current Avatar was actually from 2013 before I bought my last XJ in 2016, I briefly had an XJ in 2013 but did not get on with it, that picture is when I took it to Bruge.

No doubt you will use the excuse that you were distracted by your LED adaptive headlights, or blind spot lamps or something?...

So, cough, cough, ahem... for Jim's benefit...

She had what they class as 'Full service' so as far as I can fathom that's Oil/Filter, Fuel filter, Air filter, (Not sure about Pollen filters?) then a good old inspection and necessary oiling/greasing etc. I'll double check exactly what's included on the bill.
Stuff like gearbox oil, brake fluid, coolant probably needs attending to when I have the car 'back on the straight and narrow'.
For the time being, next thing I need to sort are some tyres...
    Lol, whatever

To be fair Chris I do have a lot going on and have slept since, I think my memory may be going too.....
Please accept my heartfelt apologies, I mean that from the heart of my bottom

Now, go get some tyres, runflats….Eughh

Thanks for "updating" me though, really appreciate it lol

I'm not sure runflats help when you are parked in a tree.

I've always been an advocate of buying decent tyres - always stuck to the original Pirelli P-Zero's on my last Jag. Someone once said to me "that's all there is between the car and the road", and its always stuck with me.

But mainly because of the huge expense coming my way over the coming week, I find myself looking at other 'budget brands'.

I looked at some online reviews, and found that a company called Landsail, who are Chinese, are doing very well with buyers. They are supposed to be the fastest growing supplier in the UK, and are a respectable £84 per corner from my local Halfords (for a 245/50/R18 tyre).

Other than that, alternatives I have found are:

    - Falken FK453CC at £96.50 per corner (and I know these are good, having bought them before).
    - Yokohama Advan Sport V105 at £151.50 per corner
    - Dunlop Sportmaxx TT at £149 per corner

I am swaying towards the Falkens, but am also tempted by the Chinse ones - it would save me a few quid. I have no interest in the 'Performance' of the tyre, as I only poodle along most of the time, but I certainly don't want something that is going to blow, or become dangerous in the wet!

    What does everyone else think?

I wouldn't be keen to try the Landsails myself, no personal experience but have heard they're not the best as you can imagine I'm sure

I'd probably aim towards the Falkens myself, no personal experience but heard / read so many positive reviews from car enthusiasts / forum members on various sites. Barums / Avons or Kumho would be other decent options if available in that size

    Cheers

Actually, to my surprise my car does not run on runflats - which I am pleased about!

I do enjoy reading your posts Chris. Always full of good content and more than anything else , very open and honest.

At least now I comfortable with the fact of knowing who to contact , if or when I decide to put any of my vehicles out to pasture

You must surely miss the XJ a little , although these little mishaps in life always affect us in different ways .......
