Exclamation Fuelling Problem! ...What on earth happened here?

    Dear Forum Members,

I have a peculiar problem that emerged 'out of the blue' last week!

When fueling the car with Diesel, the fuel only gets into the tank at a rate of 2 liters a minute!
It appears that a fuel flap that sits about 10 inches down the fuel entry pipe either doesn't 'disappear' when unlocking the car (and hence the fuel flap) or this flap doesn't make way for the fuel any longer.

Interestingly, when I tried to carefully pamper it with a screw driver, the car kept locking/unlocking in quick succession.

Do I need to be more forceful?

Unfortunately, my local dealer isn't much on the creative side of things as he works on the principle to best replace EVERYTHING!

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

    Many thanks in advance!

There is a device that triggers if the car thinks you are fuelling with petro to save you from yourself. This doohickey can be reset with the yellow tool in the spare wheel well. From the manual “The reset tool is stored in the luggage compartment clipped onto the battery retaining bar”.

The anti misfuel device isn't that far down, and you can clearly see when its activated. If it is that, the reset tool, as Mac_Doctor says, is clipped on top of the battery.
2010 XJ Portfolio running on lorry fuel. I know, Jag Diesel is just wrong!
