But it will tell you if you have a hard drive system or a DVD based system.

As American and British/ European systems use a USB stick, we seem to think that the same applies all over. This is not the case.

You have a DVD. You use the slot in the dash.

If you got the wrong DVD, send it back and get the right one.

It is odd as you’d expect Jaguar to supply the same kit worldwide, but then it may be that the updates are from a different source and the Southern Hemisphere suppliers couldn’t support USB.
At the end of the day, a quick search for updates shows USB for Europe and DVD updates for Australia and New Zealand so it’s pretty definitive.

From what I have gleaned from my workshop manual for facelift Australian models is that it is probably Japanese spec as follows. it appears there is a DVD drive under the rear parcel shelf boot area and the maps run via the latest DVD rather than downloaded to the unit check out bottom of page 19 t0 23 on this pdf

Good sleuthing Poundy, I had no idea about the DVD drive in the boot under the rear parcel shelf, and I'm from Oz!
Olddog - it looks like that is your answer - you don't update the nav using the in dash DVD slot, instead you chuck the DVD in a separate drive under the rear parcel shelf (not to be confused with the "classic" DVD drive on the left side of the boot).

Nothing under the parcel shelf or the passenger seat. The state distributors service dept advise that the dashboard DVD is what is used.
I have returned the wrong one and asked for the later model be sent in return. I will report when I receive it.
