    XF Portfolio: 1st service query.

    Had my XF Portfolio in for its first service last week at my local Jag main dealer....the car is exactly 2 years old and covered 13.3k miles. I have a Jag 5yr Service Plan.

    On my copy of the service item ‘tick list’ all service actions are ‘ticked’ by the mechanic. However, there is a section at the foot of the list called ‘Optional Service Items’ that contains the following tasks:-

    • Drain DEF tank if the car has covered less than 24k KM (15k miles) in 2 years.
    • Replace brake fluid.

    Both of these two items have an ‘x’ against them indicating that these optional tasks haven’t been carried out.

    I’m sure there is a perfectly good explanation,...however, I rang the dealer this morning for clarification but was told I’d get a call-back,... which could take hours!;

    ...any thoughts on the above please?,...whilst I’m waiting for the dealer’s call-back.

    Update for anyone remotely interested;...the dealer reckons the DEF tank didn’t need to be completely drained as the fluid had been topped-up just 6 months ago.
    Also, they tested the brake fluid and it was still fine so no need for it to be replaced;...not sure what a ‘test’ of the brake fluid actually entails though.

    2 yr old XF Portfolio Auto (13.3k miles) and everything running sweet as nut atm ,...fingers crossed it continues.

    Only cloud on the horizon is the brakes pads haven’t got much life left;...front 10%, rear 15%. How much will it cost to have the pads replaced,..anyone had them done recently?

    I’m surprised they didn’t give me a quote when I picked the car up.

    I'm not sure of the cost for pads Max as I always do my own. However, as you are in Cheshire, there is a good Indy in Macclesfield centre, just up the road from the Train station. It might be worth asking them; Horner & Hudson.

    Thanks for that ,...I'll give them a bell on Monday morning see if I can get a quote and compare to my main dealer;...I suspect I'll need to break into my piggy-bank though, whichever one I choose!

    Just rang ‘BIG CATS - Independent Jaguar Specialist’ in Trafford Park (open till 1pm today) and they quoted approx £250 for pads all round/sensors/labour/vat;
    ...no idea if that is a good price or not, tbh.
