    C16 RKC's Mercedes CL500 5.5 V8

Now after all the non-Jaguar threads I've started over the last couple of months... I know I'm starting to risk being asked politely to leave. I picture Ian's mouse cursor hovering over the "delete user profile" button by my name, on the moderator 5000 command console... so I'll proceed with much caution.

Since my insurance finally paid out I've been umming, aaring, and even oooing on what to get to replace my BMW 7 series. Over a short period of time I have come to love the old BMW, it is the most well built car I have ever had, including the Mercedes models I've owned. It's quiet, comfortable, and has an incredibly supple and smooth ride. I have to say I've been very pleasantly surprised. I've even grown attached to it's obvious "ugliness" which I feel is likely to make it a future collectable. It has character.

But when it all comes down to it... the BMW is not really very "me". I just haven't bonded with it.

So I've pondered an X351 XJ (boy have I tried hard to convince myself..), an XF, an XK... and then looked at the newer 7 series, Audi A8, Mercedes W221 S class, never quite thinking anything really felt right. Then sort of by accident I saw one of the Mercedes CL models.

I nearly dismissed it, as it is 2 door and I have a small chimp to think about. But when I considered 95% of my driving is with just me... it started to make sense. We take Lindsey's Chelsea mobile when we go anywhere so we can fit baby Aston's survival equipment, so my car now spends every weekend sat patiently on our driveway.

...and... when it finally gets back from the body shop... I still have the Daimler for family trips!

I love the curves, love the interior... and when I drove it I found I liked the ride and performance too! (382bhp). So here it is; my new daily driver.

    True shipmate, true

    But,

I'm more interested in the car he owns with a CORRECT body, posted a reply on that thread earlier this morning and I'm STILL waiting.

It does look a lot like the 2nd generation CLK, but on a hell of a lot of steroids.

I had the 1st gen from new, loved that car and it was my 1st with a supercharger

And as I can see the 7 series in the shot, what's he doing with that?

He has heaped praise and love on it in his opening post.

Reckon our Tree parking specialist has German blood.

The shame of it is, the beloved XJ's final act of kindness in paying out for doing what he asked it to do, has been spent on a German floozy.

Betrayal Jim, that's what it is, betrayal.

No amount of cylinders or cubic inches can reduce the act committed.

These Chermans are sneaky beggars indeed. Very fickle is our Chris as he finds himself in a bit of a twizz. He’s trying to find a car that gave him the satisfaction of the one he unceremoniously dumped into a tree. The answer is simple, get another Jag.

Lol I did hear a whisper about this being a possibility yesterday, lo and behold.....

Some people seem to change their car more often than I change my underwear, I'm guessing that you are on the German forum boards quite often these days, perhaps saying things like here's a pic of my "other" car whilst posting a pic of your Jag.
I may do a search later and see if I can find that lol

Generally speaking I'm not a huge fan of Mercs, but she looks nice Chris and in V8 guise too.

Please stay away from trees, or even large shrubs if you can, meantime I'm opening the book on how long you have this one starting at even money for 3 months or less
