Thats it I've had enough 2 more Split Dunlops on the front

So after being on the car a fraction over a year and still having plenty of tread the two front dunlops have split

Thats not 4 Dunlops that have split on me ....

    Sick of this happening

Replaced the 2 original Dunlops that split with Dunlops then after the last pair split I put a pair of Avons on the rear...

Really not happy at moment seriously thinking of selling the thing !!!

Don't sell it just because the OEM tyres are rubbish.
Spend a little on some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and you will never look back.

sorry to hear Tink, I've heard more than a few with issues with those Dunlops

I can't understand why that would make you want to sell the car though?

It's the tyres that are at fault, take a deep breath, step back and assess the situation. It sounds like you have a few other things going through your mind...…..

I appreciate its the tyres at fault but I've heard of other 20" splitting too so its an inherent problem.

Where have you seen this Tink?

I've heard quite a few reports of Dunlops splitting from various sources and posts, unsure if it's only been in 20" size or not although the ones I saw were 20"s

I know loads of other drivers on this forum and others who drive cars with 20" alloys and have no issues, I myself put around 70k mile on my last XJ X358 and so far just under 20k on this XJ X351 with 20" alloys / tyres and have never had an issue.

I'm not a particular fan of Dunlops but even the ( perhaps 2 sets I had ) never gave me problems. I'm more into Kumho's and Barum Bravuris or Avons, having spent many thousands on Bridgestones, Continentals and Pirelli's in the past

My Dunlops survived, just, but they were splitting towards the end and if the tread hadn't worn out I'd have had to change them anyway.
Now on Goodyear Assy3's - better grip and much thicker sidewalls. Ride seems just as good but much less chance of damaging the rims - overall very happy with the change.
Just change the tyre brands - Goodyear or Michelins are great options (Costco have a good deal on Michelins at the moment).

Dunlop being the "sportier" brand from Goodyear-Dunlop, do they generally have stiffer sidewalls? Does less than ideal alignment have a contributing effect?

We hear about Dunlop problems because we probably have more Dunlop tyre on Jaguars than any other brand.

The Goodyear Asymmetric 5 is in the process of being released and looks promising. Check if they are available in your size before buying the old one.

I went from Dunlops to Michelin PS4S and the difference is night and day.
