    Jaguar build quality !

    I'm now into my fourth Jaguar, 2 x X types and 2 x XFs.

Each and every one has been an ex-demonstrator so you would have thought that they would be pretty much as they left the factory.

After a few weeks of owning each and every one of them I have found bits missing.

The new XF is no different. There seem to be several trim clips missing from around the boot area. If only one was missing I would assume that it might have broken or fallen out. There are two plastic panels that cover the area behind the tail lights, neither had any fixings holding them in place.

Ex demonstrators have a hard life. Lent out to all unsundry who "Try them out" and bits are pilfered from them for complaining customers or borrowers.
Never cared for as the next one will be along soon, possibly not serviced although stamped in the book.

Somehow, they are perceived as a good car to have but no idea how that happened.

You may have gathered, I am not a fan of Main Dealers!

Thankfully this one has just had it's first service.

I suspect it left the factory just fine and the clips have gone since as Stagnite said.
I've bought a few 1 year old cars from dealers and had to return them for things broken/missing on every occasion.
Oddly, the closest to spot on, has been my current Jag, which was over 2 when i got it, but even that had to go back.

I find it despicable that someone would steal two clips worth about 50p each.

Who knows why they’ve gone. Maybe lost, maybe “borrowed” by someone who lost or broke theirs and couldn’t face a long wait at the parts counter.
In any case, the dealer will sort it.

As others have said, demonstrators often get harvested for bits.

Mechanics lose or break fasteners, either down into some inaccessible part of the car or it gets kicked into some unknown corner of the workshop. Rather than fess up to the workshop manager / wait for stock, they go and harvest bits from a demonstrator. It's very common with all marques.

When I collected the car I noticed that the rear parcel cover was damaged. The salesman just robbed a new one from their new demonstrator.
