    Rotor missing O/S/R

    Hello
I have a fualt with my 2001 2.5 Xtype and was wondering what faults would be associated by the Rotor missing on the O/S/R (RHD) outer drive shaft. I have a number of faults on the car I have just purchased and In doing a few checks I found the rotor ring on the rear CV joint missing.

Hi Dave, are your referring to the ABS ring. If so you would get an ABS warning light.

It is the ABS ring that is missing and I do have the ABS light on but I was hoping that a missing ring would manifest itself with other faults as well.

Why are you "hoping" it would generate other faults. Do you have other faults.

I certainly have other faults. The engine management light is on. Odometer works for a short distance 0.2 miles then goes to —————. And the handbrake warning light is on.

The handbrake light doubles as the low brake fluid warning. It could be that.

The engine management light came on in my old x type along with the abs light when a dirty rear abs sensor plug was detected.

The handbrake warning light appears to coincide with the speedo mileage indicator going blank. The vehicle drives for about 0.2 miles and then the handbrake light comes on followed around a second later with the odometer failing. I was hoping that some one would have some experience of how the two systems are connected.
FYI I have a degree in Motor Vehicle engineering and can repair almost everything on vehicles providing I know where to start (ie what connects the two systems).
The handbrake warning light only works on two circuits neither of which connect with the speedo, so I'm currently at a loss.
