Got the headlights back in and finished off a couple of jobs under the wheelarches and got her back on the ground.
Testing showed the new light units all working although the nearside doesn't respond to the cabin leveling control which is irritating.
Waited till dark and then went out for a test drive.
Very pleased, if ever there was a description worthy of the term 'night & day' this would be it. Possibly not as good as Frank's HID's but a heck of a lot better than before.
So, all you need are a couple of 90mm Hella mainbeam units as fitted to motorhomes & the like, 4 tywraps and a couple of H7 bulbs.
I'll post some photos when I have a bit of time.

Jerry which of your lights do not have the silvering? Both or just one? I may have a solution for you.

Glad your happy with the new setup. It does make a big difference to your nighttime driving. As you say "Night and Day".

Both mainbeams, almost no silvering when I bought the car. I thought it odd that the low beams had not suffered at all - they must have a different manufacturing process.

    Scrub that idea.

I was going to offer you the old front lens of mine https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthre...=1#post1179617

Just been out to take some photos and realized its the rear bit that has the silver on them not the front.

Sorry! Thought I had a solution for you.

Still getting used to the photo attachment process. This should show the original reflector.

Here are the modified Hella 90mm units. I cut off the 'ears' on the mounting lugs to make them flush - before & after. These ones came with a sidelight which I discarded. Add a bit of silver paint and...

This shows the fitted unit. I had expected to have to make a conversion plate, but in the end just used tywraps.

Overall a success for very little outlay.
