Original starburst wheels or swap for penta

I have recently acquired a mint 2000 xj8 executive with only 28k miles on it with the intention of taking it to car shows etc. I have 2 questions. Firstly, we’re penta’s ever an optional extra on this model year, and if I swapped the original 16” starburst for 18” penta’s whilst looking much better would it loose it’s originality? Thoughts.

Penta's were original equipment on the XJR's until about 2001 when Asteroids became standard.

Penta's were an option on the sport during the model run out. e,g 2001/2002
They are a nice looking good value wheel.

The only downside is the tyre cost? and possible more hard ride/minor vibration.
So if ride quality is your No.1 priority then avoid,
    But they look nice

Thanks. This will be why I’ve seen a few sport models with penta. I was going to fit 245 45 18 tyres which are a bit more reasonable cost and work out the same cost as 17” because there are not as many to choose from in that size. Part of my project will be to retrofit the sport options.
