Henry_b's Euro Trip.... AGAIN!! And 730d E66 barge content

Well financially since last week i've never been worse after relieving £2345.78 from my hard earned I Bought From the classifieds of a local newspaper a black BMW 730d 2005, yes i'm an idiot!!!!

It's a fully spec'd model etc I bought it Monday and it's sunday so i'm gonna show what happened this week, my Girl'ishfriend to those who know is in Bucharest, again I went over this week, but what car to take?

My S or this new 730d that I know nothing about?

The 730d came good of course but it wasn't without issue

I left from my home at 7am and got to the tunnel by 12.

A swift burn down through belgium, Austria, Vienna, bucharest etc and I picked the lady up...

Her Drive is rather nice and the car is shown here.

Of course she was cleaned properly for this shot just some Megs wax etc etc

Her Mother was perplexed to the young lad cleaning his car in her driveway.

Anyway with her in the car I can finally take some photos.

I can't believe how smooth this car is considering it's a diesel power is incredible and the torque!!!
driving position is brilliant and comfy along with the fact Sorina fell asleep mid journey so thats a plus she didn't do that in the Jag!!!

    Aircon works and was freezing!!

Dad is livid that i've bought it!!! lol

Insurance is a big ball ache..

    Economy isn't horrible

    and it was cheap!!

Engine almost exploded but who cares..

    more to come later.,

We got her immediately filthy after visiting Sfantul Gheorghe beach..

Much more driving came and went..

This is in a layby in the Romanian mountains,

Well the top left Pic is, the other seems to be in a slum in birmingham but that layby is a Bucharestian mountain!!

showing the interior, spliced in from when i got 'er

A nice side shot that was taken out the side of a Lada 2106

And me cruising though Vienna just over that barrier is a death defying drop

After brimming her seemingly giant tank with the weird stuff I got over 500mi and after 100mi of driving the MPG average was almost double what the Jag was. 40.9 IIRC will find the Pic!!

I did run her down to empty

And then in Belgium Thursday!!! it sort of broke, check engine light and a rattle with lots of warnings.

    garage..

    And how it is now..

Almost back together as i speak now but what a faf, a timing chain tensioner failed which caused all manner of issues, new one fitted, and almost ready..

    And the heap runs.

    More later if poss

Oh dear what an adventure again.

It's a good looking car Henry, good find.

    Hopefully the tensioner is all.

You must put a rope on your right foot so you can pull it off the Go pedal!

There's no contest with a good diesel on long trips.

How do you find the orange instruments though, I found them a bit too bright on unlit roads at night?

    And the headlights?

    Thanks Jim.

    She is a Lovely cruiser!!

Funny you should mention the orange lights.

I wear(d) autodimming glasses when driving I noticed at night the orange was so bright my glasses would dim casuing driving to be impossible!!!

So i had to swap for my old bridgeless glasses which were rather uncomfortable!!

Apart from that it was good..

Performance is good and being diesel you can push it pretty hard and still get good'ish MPG
