    Door hinge

    1992 XJ6 sovereign

I need to replace the front door hinges. I looked over the door and it appears that I will need to remove the fender to access the bolts. Can anyone confirm this?

In addition, there is what looks like a sealant near the edge of the door - see the attached picture. Can anyone tell me what this is? I plan to remove it, take care of the rust and then replace it.

    Thanks

Hi, I cannot believe that you have to remove the fender to gain access. Wouldn't you just remove the wheel arch liner or access via the footwell. Not having worked on an old XJ for some years my memory is not too clear.
