    W and v rated tyres s type

    Hi, my s type 3.0 1999 has w rated tyres fitted, I’ve seen 4 nearly new v rated
    are these ok ? Think I remember w included weight as jags are heavy
    any comments on this ?

    These are speed ratings V = 149 mph max w = 168 mph max I should think ether will be OK for your car

    The V rating is below the factory supply, so may be a problem for your insurance. I would check. 149 mph is quite close to the actual top speed of your car so the manufacturer would probably go safe and take the next available rating.

    Make sure that the load rating is at least as high as original. Also a increasing the load rating means you effectively have a higher speed rating for the same car.

    Yes it’s what I thought has w rated fitted for speed / insurance etc , but I can’t believe an s type 3.0 would reach 150 mph

    ZR is an older tyre rating which meant the tyres were adapted for vehicles over 149 mph.

    You would need W rated that is 168 mph , or Y rated for 186 mph which are often a similar price.

    If you go from a load rating of 93 to 97 for example, the ride will be a little harsher than before.
