    Air Suspension Module Ground Point/Stud

    Dear Forum,

    Please can anyone help?

I have been searching for the ground stud for the ASM (see G17 below). I have pulled my back seats out and it does not appear to be under there. I have pulled up the carpet and not there either? I have pulled up the grey plastic trim by the rear door-plate and there is a massive wiring loom there but no ground stud?

Hi, just a quick question, why do you need to find the ground point as the diagrams show quite a few items use that point. What age is your car. I do not know where it is but I am wondering if it could be on the seat support. There should be quite a few Black leads in that harness under the foot plate which would branch out.

Got it. In that case you need to go from the module. Pick up the Black lead and check it for continuity to earth. You can do this without needing to find the stud.
If there is no fault found you could do a hard battery reset which will reset the module.

Hello Roger. The only pin on the ASM with a black wire (see post https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=115973&p=1199089....#5) is CR88 pin 3. Is that the Earth, please?

UPDATE: Roger, I think (with your help) I may have answered my own question:

Thanks Roger. Gonna check this ground tomorrow. I tried a hard reset and it made no difference to the CATS System Fault light. I don't expect checking the ground is going to achieve anything either, because both front shocks are passing the pinpoint tests and they must share this ground? I do not have ANY Actuator Failure DTC's...My suspension feels fine...unchanged...This is beyond frustrating!!

    Cannot see a pin 9 (2005 XJ8L wiring diagram)?

Pins 7,2,8 & 11 appear to refer to the rear Damper Actuators? What am I checking for here please Roger? Ohms? Volts? Continuity? (please excuse may lack of auto-electrical knowledge...I am out of my depth here)?

Look carefully at the diagram. Find pins 7 and 2 and follow the lines you will see that they go to TL93 which is the connector I am talking about. They go through this joint before going to the actuator. Pins 8 and 11 go direct to the actuator. I hope you see what I mean. If there is a dodgy or dirt connection here it could be your problem. If you go up one page you will see the location of all modules and connectors.
