    Japanese import XJS ?

I previously owned an ‘84 V12, which rusted just about everywhere. I’m now considering buying another, but looking for a late ‘95 or ‘96 car.
I’ve found a low mileage Japanese import ‘96 for sale, which claims to be rust-free, and certainly from the pictures it looks immaculate inside and out - I’m yet to view it in person.
Its already UK registered with an MOT, but has little service history, and the odometer/speedo is in KM/H. Radio has been replaced with a UK one.
i assume it’s straightforward to replace the speedo with a MPH one.

Assuming it’s as tidy in the flesh as in appears to be, what are the reasons NOT to buy a Jap car?
I’m not too concerned about the service history, as long as it’s sound - I’d rather buy a car that is unlikely to rust away! I assume these can be rust protected with wax etc?

firstly , make sure the import tax has been paid, with paper proof !!

then , its no different to any other car,

import cars from Japan may have different emission settings, along with some exhaust heat shield underneath , and as you say the KPH dash and the stereo radio frequencies ,

the dash is easy to swap , however, the speedo works on digital signal not a cable for the later cars, this should make it easier to work to be honest, but some trial and error might be required, but nothing serious,

other than that, if the price is right, and you like it, go for it

    best of luck

Thanks, will check that. Also, Im trying to clarify the annual road tax, I assume the same as a UK 96 car, but not confirmed yet.

    Its this one.
However I'm going off it a bit. Looks like the doors have dropped a bit (adjustable?), and has chavvy quad tail pipes - would need swapping back to standard. Its also ~140 miles from me. Condition looks excellent however!
Seems for similar money / a bit more I could buy a UK one (with more miles) but with service history.
Guess it depends if its really rust-free, and how a UK one for a similar budget compares.

Im in no rush. Its 19 years since I had my 84 roadworthy (eventually scrapped) and it would be a 3rd car/toy !

    Id welcome your opinion?
