    Post Dave's new 2008 Sovereign lwb diesel

    Hi all, well it seems to be the thing to do on here, so I thought I would start my story.

    Having had a couple of facelifted S-type v8 4.2's and being a life-long Jaguar fan I thought I would like an XJ, ideally an x358 - as it's the last of the classic Jaguar look and shape imo.

    So watched the market for about a year and eventually fell upon my car. Bought in UK last week and immediately taken to my place in France.

    In liquid silver with Anthracite interior, heated and cooled front seats, electric pedals and audiophile sound system plus all the normal equipment. Shod with 18" wheels and excellent tyres PLUS a nearly new 19" set with great Michelins.

    Pictures will follow once she is cleaned.

    Up until now I've done the following :

    Changed front sidelight bulbs for LED's I had in stock;

    Found the following problems :

    Leaking screenwash/headlight wash system;

    Rear parking sensors not working correctly;

    Drivers door mirror won't fold; drivers door seal needs replacing;

    and now found that the rear nearside door won't lock irrspective of whether I try to lock it with the fob, the dashboard button or manually on the door lever from inside the car.

    So, I think I now know what to do for the screenwash leak, the drivers door mirror, and the door seal (buy a new one but from who?) however the rear door lock problem I could do with advice. Just to be clear I can't get the lock part of the interior door handle to move in any way at all, not electrically nor manually.

    I hope that makes things clear at this end, absolutely love the car, just need to sort out these little things and install the 19" wheels and we are good.

    All help and advice gratefully received,

    Cheers
    Dave

    i had issue with my offside rear locking motor, a strip and clean on the bench cured it,after a session with the multi meter confirmed signal on the last connector in the door to confirm the loom wasnt broken in the slinky between the shell and the door.

    Where's the pics Dave?

    A showthread without pics is ....................!

    DOOR issue, it sounds similar to mine from a few years back. If it's the smaller of the 2 levers remaining stuck out, you'll like as not find it is the same issue and it'll cost you nothing to fix.

    Cause? Over eagerness to get out and pulling too hard on the larger of the 2 levers.

    If you look in my signature at the bottom of this post and open the Issues, Fixes & Mods.

    Look under things I've done, you have 2 to look at, my door issue and how to get the door card off.

    Both have images to help you along.

    Hi Rich, first of all, yes of course you're right, we all love pics but the weather here has been - how can I put this? - not very nice actually. Hopefully after the Wales/Aussie game I'll be out and washing, brushing, maybe even polishing (no gttees on that !).

    Thanks very much for your comments about the door issue, I'll look it up and study.

    I know she's only a diesel but I love her all the same

    Cheers

    I'm trying with my Photobucket account, it's a bit of a faff as the pics I take with my phone go to Google Photos, then my Cloud then Photobucket. There must be an easier way way with GP but I haven't found it yet.

    Here's hoping...........................

    Dave

    Yippeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!! It worked, well sort of, hopefully enough, thanks Jim.
