    At either of the shortest sides,

    Slide a trim tool underneath and push.

    This should disengage the plastic tang and allow that side to lift out.

    Hold in this position and do the same on the other side.

    I found that the plastic bumpers under the bonnet lid that engage with your bumpers on the slam panel are prone to drop off, because the glue fails. Same on my XJ.
