What size sim do I really need for my F-Pace 2018 InControl pro to work?

Have gone all round the houses, do I need a monthly subscription?
how much data is used by google maps if I do a navigation once a week
could I get away with a one off 12 month purchase
    any ideas welcome?
nothing on the Jaguar website helps, and the dealer wasn’t much better!

I bought a 12Gb 12-month SIM when I got our F-Pace. After 12 months I had used less than 2Gb and have averaged 130Mb per month since I had the car. We now have a SIM from 3 which gives 200Mb free every month. We use the navigation almost every trip just to monitor traffic conditions. Sounds like you will have similar usage to us so I would give the 200Mb free per month a try. You can always upgrade to an annual SIM if you need more.

The last two years I've had 12Gb 3 Sims, costing about £30 or so. They've worked fine for the full period. I'm not sure how much data I've actually used but its used a lot for web stuff, CarPlay streaming etc.

Need a new one early December and this time bought a 24Gb/24 month 3 for £32. For me £1.33 a month is fine.

That's a good deal. Who was that from?

If you log on to your My3 account it will tell you how much data you have used. Also, in the F-Pace (can't speak about the XJ) if you go into Settings, Connectivity and select mobile data it will tell you how much data you have used since the last monthly reset.

That's the same in the XF.

Thanks, but when I tried to create an account with 3, it said to put in the number where it would text something. Because the chip is not connected to a phone I didn’t create the account. I know about the monthly use etc., but this was not helpful in telling me what balance is left on the chip.

That has always been an issue with 3 data sims - you need to put them in a phone to link them to a My3 account in order to manage them.
Once you've done that you can leave it in your car until all the bandwidth is used up, then just toss it and get another.
