    Expensive oil and labour

My XF Sportbrake had its first service today by a main dealer at 20 months old and 20240 miles. 1.5 hours labour £191.25 and 6.5 litres of OW -30 Castrol Edge at an eyewatering charge of £17.50 per litre. Filters etc making a total of £331.72 +vat. 1.5 hours is not realistic for an oil and filter change.fitting a pollen filter and visually inspecting the brake pads but I guess this time is set by Jaguar.
I did get a 15% discount off the parts and labour but the total of £398.06 never the less shocked me. The oil can be bought off E bay for around £7.50 litre so I think that charging a full price of nearly £19 litre is robbery with violence especially as the dealers oil is drawn from a bulk supply tank. I did get the free upgrade on the infortainment system with now a much improved access to use Appleplay etc. I will certainly check out an independent Jaguar garage before the 2nd service becomes due as this is likely to be much higher than the first service.
2 rejected F Paces for a 2018 XF 2.0D AWD Sportbrake. caesium blue with goodies. 2006 4.2 XK Convertible Frost Blue & Ivory for wonderful summer use.

Yes Hydrajaws, you're bang on there

I've just received something similar although Jaguar offer the fixed price servicing for cars over 3 years, so my XJ for a full service of oil change / oil filter, fuel filter, air and pollen filter plus assoc checks is £385.00

My local Indy will wipe well over £100 off that price.

My suggestion is you contact Chris at the Jag Specialist in Doncaster ( around 1 hour away 51 mile approx )

He'll do a better job, keep you informed AND be cheaper all at the same time, a bit of a legend in the Jag community, tell him Jim put you onto him and you're from Jaguarforums, he'll look after you.

It gets even better if you have a little work needing done, say perhaps brake pads, or pads n discs as well as a service, the savings just get bigger and bigger

I once travelled from Glasgow for a load of suspension work and service needing done, cost here was around £1300, but around £800 iirc from Chris

Certainly worth considering, and a day out in Doncaster lol

There is absolutely no need to use a Jaguar Main Dealer for servicing. Your warranty will be perfectly valid if you use any recognised mechanic and if they use genuine Jaguar parts.

Mmmmm Good afternoon people. a bit worried now. I have a service plan with Inchcape Jaguar Derby. As far as I am aware this includes everything, but looking at the pricing and work done, could I have been duped into something that is not as it seems. I have a xf 2016 portfolio with 95000 on the clock. and had the recent recall done.
First Jaguar (XF Portfolio 2.0d) and loving it.

All insurance products are a complete rip off.

No company is going to give you anything for free without first paying their bosses.

My 20K service cost me £298. That would equate to about £25/month in insurance payments.

I am aware that it is cheaper outside of the Jaguar network but it also needed some work done under warranty and had a couple of recalls. I was astounded by the cost of the service though. It is basically just an oil and filter change, fuel filter and pollen filter. They did clean the car though, but I am not sure that was worth £300 !
