Airbag fault codes b2296 Side Impact Sensor Rear

    '01 Jaguar S type 3.0v6 m19041

    I have a strange problem.

The airbag light flashes code 45 and i have the fault codes B2296. This would mean I have a problem with the rear Side Impact Sensors.

However I don't have any Side Impact Sensor or airbags in the rear as mine is from '01. They are also not mentioned in the wiring diagrams for the '99 to 01 models.

To be sure it was not the front sensors or the module i replaced the sensors and the airbag module from a other '01 jaguar S type. I also checked the wiring. The fault codes keep popping up.

What else could cause this fault code?

Are you 100% sure the flash code is 4-5. This may help, http://www.cardiagnostics.be/-now/Ja...Flashcodes.pdf

    100% sure.

The old module gave a 46 code. The module from the breakers gives me a 45 code. Both would be the rear s
    ide impact sensor.

To make sure I went back to the breakers and checked the S type for rear sensors or airbags in the rear but that car did not had any
    rear sensors or airbags
    .

So that's why it puzzels that I have this fault codes?

I got a feeling that the pdf you mentioned is used for the 2002 and up S type models not for the older ones as the later models do have
    rear sensors and airbags.

The Student Guide T620 for the X200 has 45 as passenger side crash sensor communication fault
but doesn't give any more info.

    Wiring/connector loose?

I checked the wiring and that was fine. But I will check it again just to rule that out.

    Solved.

Turned out to be a faulty sensor in the front.
